January 14, 2008 MUNTINLUPA CITY ORDINANCE NO. 024-08 AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE FILING/RENEWAL OF BUSINESS PERMITS AND THE PAYMENT OF ALL LOCAL TAXES, FEES AND OTHER CHARGES WITHOUT PENALTY UP TO THE CLOSING HOURS OF JANUARY 31, 2008 Sponsored by: Hon. Pagkalinawan WHEREAS , Section 167 of Republic Act 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991 provides that, "x x x all local taxes, fees and charges shall be paid within the first twenty (20) days of January or of each subsequent quarter, as the case may be. The Sanggunian concerned may, for a justifiable reason or cause, extend the time of payment of such taxes, fees or charges without surcharges or penalties but only for a period not exceeding six (6) months" ; WHEREAS , the last day of renewal of business licenses on January 20 was adopted pursuant to Section 169 of the Revenue Code of Muntinlupa; WHEREAS , the letter request for the extension of filing/renewal of business permits without penalty up to the closing hours of January 31, 2008 from the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) was submitted to the City Council dated January 3, 2008; WHEREAS , there is a need to give ample time to taxpayers to file their payments for the renewal of business licenses in the City of Muntinlupa since the Business One Stop Shop (BOSS) was relocated to its temporary site at Sports Complex, Tunasan, due to fire that gutted the whole administration building last August 2, 2007, entailing necessary adjustments; WHEREAS , the City Government of Muntinlupa recognizes the increasing numbers of new registered businesses to be catered in the city; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED , by the 5th Sangguniang Panlungsod in session duly assembled to extend the filing/renewal of business permits and payment of all local business taxes, fees and other charges without penalty up to the closing hours of January 31, 2008 .
