Designating the Presidential Assistant for Poverty Alleviation, NGO & PO as the Presidential Assistant in Charge of Matters Concerning the Indigenous Peoples and the Urban Poor

July 17, 1998 MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 5 DESIGNATING THE PRESIDENTIAL ASSISTANT FOR POVERTY ALLEVIATION, NGO & PO AS THE PRESIDENTIAL ASSISTANT IN CHARGE OF MATTERS CONCERNING THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLES AND THE URBAN POOR Pursuant to the powers vested in me by law, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, do hereby designate DONNA Z. GASGONIA, Presidential Assistant for Poverty Alleviation, NGO and PO, as the presidential assistant in-charge of all matters concerning the indigenous peoples and the urban poor. She shall coordinate and act on all matters pertinent to the indigenous peoples' sector, including the implementation of Republic Act No. 8371, otherwise known as "The Indigenous Peoples' Rights Act of 1997", as well as appointments to the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples in accordance therewith. This Order takes effect immediately. DONE in the City of Manila, this 17th day of July, in the year of Our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Ninety-Eight.
