August 18, 1994 MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 226 CREATING TASK FORCE GARDENIA TO STUDY AND ASSIST IN THE RATIFICATION OF THE GENERALAGREEMENT ON TARIFFSAND TRADE (G AT T) WHEREAS, Task Force Dahlia was earlier constituted to oversee the successful implementation of the value-added tax (VAT) system; WHEREAS, the President directed Task Force Dahlia to include among its function the General Agreement on Tariff and Trade (GATT) issue which is up for ratification in the Senate; NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law do hereby create Task Force Gardenia to study and assist in the ratification of the General Agreement on Tariff and Trade (GATT). SECTION 1. Task Force Gardenia, thru the Command Operations Center (COC) shall operate within the organizational framework of Task Force Dahlia to study and assist in the successful ratification of GATT in the Senate. SECTION 2. This Memorandum Order shall take effect immediately. DONE the City of Manila, this 18th day of August, in the year of Our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Ninety-Four.
