Ortega AN ORDINANCE GRANTING EXEMPTION TO THE METRO MANILA FILM FESTIVAL NEW WAVE STUDENT SECTION ENTRIES FROM ASSESSMENT AND PAYMENT OF 10% AMUSEMENT TAX FROM DECEMBER 18, 2013 TO DECEMBER 24, 2013 ONLY, SUBJECT TO ALL LAWS AND EXISTING LEGAL RULES AND REGULATIONS WHEREAS, the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) annually presents locally produced films during the Christmas Season; WHEREAS, this year, the New Wave Section of the MMFF which showcase the Full Feature and Student Short Film Categories has added the Animation Category to its slate; ETHIDa WHEREAS, from December 18-24 2013, the five (5) student shirt films together with the five (5) animated films from both students and amateur film makers will be shown at the Glorietta 4 Cinema in Makati City; WHEREAS, Section 192 of the Local Government Code (RA 7160) states: "Section 192. Authority to Grant Tax Exemption Privileges. Local government units may, through ordinances duly approved, grant tax exemptions, incentives or reliefs under such terms and conditions as they may deem necessary." WHEREAS, the Metro Manila Film Festival requests the City Government of Makati through Honorable Mayor Jejomar Erwin S. Binay, Jr. for exemption from the payment of 10% amusement tax for its New Wave Student Section entries. In lieu of payment to the Makati City, the equivalent of this tax shall be fully remitted to the participating students. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED, AS IT IS HEREBY ENACTED, BY THE SANGGUNIANG PANLUNGSOD OF MAKATI, METRO MANILA, BY VIRTUE OF THE POWERS VESTED IN IT BY LAW, IN SESSION ASSEMBLED, that: SECTION 1. Exemption from the payment of 10% amusement tax for the New Wave Student Section Entries of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) from December 18-24, 2013 only is hereby granted, subject to all laws and existing legal rules and regulations. SECTION 2. Let copy of this Ordinance be furnished the MMFF and other department, offices and agencies concerned for their information, guidance and reference. SECTION 3.
