Hechanova By unanimous vote of the Sangguniang Panlungsod members present, the following City Ordinance was enacted on third and final reading: Authors: Councilors A.C. Magpantay, E.V. Tolentino, Jr., V.V. Hilario and S.D. Pangilinan AN ORDINANCE SUSPENDING SECTION 3F.01 ARTICLE F. AMUSEMENT TAX OF THE REVISED MAKATI REVENUE CODE NO. 2004-A-025 SO AS TO COMPLETELY EXEMPT FROM PAYMENT OF AMUSEMENT TAX THE FILIPINO FILMS SHOWN IN ALL THEATERS/MOVIE HOUSES IN MAKATI CITY FOR THE DURATION OF THE METRO MANILA FILM FESTIVAL FOR 2008 ONLY, SUBJECT TO ALL LAWS AND AUDITING RULES AND PROCEDURES WHEREAS, the Metro Manila Film Festival was conceptualized and institutionalized to promote and preserve the Philippine Cinema, which is in sharp decline, as integral part of the rich Filipino culture; WHEREAS, for its noble purpose, films shown for the duration of the Film Festival should enjoy full exemption from payment of amusement tax to encourage local film producers to come up with and consistently produce high quality Filipino movies; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED, AS IT IS HEREBY ENACTED BY THE SANGGUNIANG PANGLUNGSOD OF MAKATI, BY VIRTUE OF THE POWERS VESTED IN IT BY LAW, IN SESSION ASSEMBLED, to temporarily suspending Section 3F.01 Article F. Amusement Tax of the Revised Makati Revenue Code No. 2004-A-025 so as to completely exempt from payment of amusement tax the Filipino Films shown in all theaters/movie houses in Makati City for the duration of the Metro Manila Film Festival for 2008 only, subject to all laws and auditing rules and procedures. Let copy of this Ordinance be furnished the Permit Division, City Treasurer's Office, Accounting Department and all other offices concerned for their information and guidance.
