Wilson By unanimous vote of the members present, the following City Ordinance was enacted: ACHEaI Author: Councilor D.A. Jacome AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE PERIOD OF QUARTERLY PAYMENT OF LOCAL BUSINESS, MISCELLANEOUS AND REALTY TAXES UP TO APRIL 23, 2003, SUBJECT TO ALL LAWS AND AUDITING RULES AND PROCEDURES WHEREAS, Section 167 of R.A. 7160 (Local Government Code) provides that all local taxes, fees, and charges shall be paid within the first twenty (20) days of January or of each subsequent quarter, as the case may be. The Sangguniang Panlungsod may, for justifiable reason or cause, extend the time for payment of such taxes, fees, or charges without surcharges or penalties; WHEREAS, in the light of legal non-working holidays, the period of quarterly payment of local taxes needs an extension to accommodate taxpayers who failed to transact business and pay their taxes during the holidays; WHEREAS, the extension is also designed to ease pressure from the concerned offices with the expected rush of taxpayers trying to beat the legally mandated deadline of payment. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED AS IT IS HEREBY ENACTED BY THE SANGGUNIANG PANLUNGSOD OF MAKATI, METRO MANILA, BY VIRTUE OF THE POWERS VESTED IN IT BY LAW, IN SESSION ASSEMBLED, THAT: SECTION 1. The period of quarterly payment of local business, miscellaneous and realty taxes is hereby extended up to April 23, 2003, subject to all laws and auditing rules and procedures. SECTION 2. Let copy of this Ordinance be furnished the Commission on Audit, the City Treasurer, the Business, Miscellaneous and Realty Taxes Divisions and other concerned offices for their information and guidance. SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its approval.
