RESOLUTION NO. 745-17 RESOLUTION EMBODYING PROVINCIAL ORDINANCE NO. 2017-160 , AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2A.05, ARTICLE A (REAL PROPERTY TAX), CHAPTER 11 (PROVINCIAL TAXES) OF PROVINCIAL ORDINANCE NO. 2017-145, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE 2017 REVISED REVENUE CODE OF ILOILO Sponsored by: Hon. Lorenz R. Defensor WHEREAS , the purpose of the amendment to the ordinance is to change the date of the deadline of payment for the Revenue Tax from October 31 to December 31, which is much more favourable to the taxpayers so they can avail the 10% discount if paid on or before the deadline and a 20% discount of the annual tax due if paid in full for the forthcoming years; WHEREAS , the Committee on Ways and Means considered that the Ordinance is valid pursuant to Section 232 (Power to Levy Real Property Tax) of RA 7160 or the Local Government Code of 1991; NOW THEREFORE , on motion of Hon. Lorenz R. Defensor, Floor Leader and Chairperson, Committee on Ways and Means, which was unanimously seconded; BE IT RESOLVED , as it is hereby Resolved, by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Iloilo to enact the following provincial ordinance: ILOILO PROVINCIAL ORDINANCE NO. 160-17 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 24.05, ARTICLE A (REAL PROPERTY TAX), CHAPTER 11 (PROVINCIAL TAXES) OF PROVINCIAL ORDINANCE NO. 2017-145, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE 2017 REVISED REVENUE CODE OF ILOILO SECTION 1. Section 2A.05 of Ordinance No. 2017-145 is hereby amended by changing the date of the deadline from October 31 to December 31, to be read as follows: Section 2A.05. Tax Discount for Advanced and Prompt Payment . If the basic real property tax and the additional SEF tax are paid on or before the deadlines as provided for in Section 2A.04 of this Code, the taxpayer shall be entitled to a discount of ten percent (10%). If payment is made in full for the forthcoming years, the taxpayer should be granted a discount not exceeding twenty percent (20%) of the annual tax due, provided payment should be made on or before December 31 of the current year. SECTION 2. All ordinances, rules or regulations, or part thereof found to be inconsistent with this ordinance shall be deemed repealed or modified accordingly. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval and posting in at least two (2) conspicuous places in the Province of Iloilo.
