November 24, 1988 FIRB RESOLUTION NO. 008-88 BE IT RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, to endorse to the Office of the President, the travel tax exemption of SMALL-and-MEDIUM-SCALE EXPORTERS (SMSEs) pursuant to Section 2(m) of Executive Order No. 283 (Exemption from travel tax for reasons of national interest); AND TO RESOLVE FURTHER to request the Office of the President that any approval for such travel tax exemption be conditioned on an a priori certification of qualified SMSEs by the Department of Trade and Industry on the basis of their performance and travel accommodation : Provided , That the Department of Trade and Industry, in coordination with the Central Bank of the Philippines and the Philippine Tourism Authority shall set up a system whereby the beneficiary SMSEs shall be effectively certified for purposes of the travel tax exemption, in accordance with their export performance and travel accommodation; Provided , Further that the Department of Trade and Industry shall submit to the Fiscal Incentives Review Board, on an annual basis, a report of travel tax exemption availment by beneficiary exporters, for effective revenue management purposes.
