July 31, 2009 DOF MEMORANDUM FOR : All DOF Offices/Bureaus and Attached Agencies ATTENTION : Scholarship Committee SUBJECT : Masteral Programs (MP) and Postgraduate Diploma Courses (PGDip) Offered under the New Zealand Agency for International Development (NZAID)/Starting Academic Year (AY) 2011/New Zealand This is to inform that this Department has been invited by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to nominate candidate/s to the following postgraduate degree courses: IScaAE A. Indigenous Peoples This program covers topics on development studies, advocacy, capacity-building, public health, micro finance and other related fields of study. B. Resource Management This program covers topics on environmental studies, eco-tourism, coastal and marine resources, forestry, environmental conservation, and other related fields of study. C. Governance This program covers topics on management and public reform, fiscal and economic management, public policy, administration, human rights/legal system and judicial and other related fields. ITDHcA Applicants to any of the above courses are required to specify the development relevance and benefit of the course and provide a detailed account of the field in which they wish to conduct research if this is a course requirement (usually for Masteral degree programs). A supporting statement is also required from applicants, which shows clearly that consideration has been given to how the new skills and experience will be applied on their return home. Selection process takes into account the developmental relevance of the study course, proven academic ability, current/prospective employment, gender equity and geographic distribution of scholarships. The scholarship covers tuition, enrolment and orientation fees, economy fare travel, and a basic living allowance with the provision for accommodation expenses.
