May 25, 2009 DOF DEPARTMENT ORDER NO. 027-09 ( Declared Superseded by D.O. 29-16) In view of the separate letters by the National Book Development Board (NBDB) and the Philippine Book Publishing and Development Federation (PHILBOOK) dated 14 March 2009 and 11 May 2009, respectively, seeking reconsideration, recall, and suspension of Department Order (DO) No. 17-09 (dated 24 March 2009), entitled "Clarificatory Guidelines on Duty-Free Importation of Books" , and upon recommendation of the Bureau of Customs (BoC), the implementation of the aforesaid DO is hereby suspended pending resolution of the issues raised. In the meantime, existing procedures and processes on tax and duty-free importation of books prior to the effectivity of DO 17-09 shall be observed. This Order shall take effect immediately.
