January 31, 2017 DOF DEPARTMENT ORDER NO. 005-17 DESIGNATION OF THE OFFICER OF THE DAY (OOD) The Officer of the Day (OOD) is a detail rotated each working day among Undersecretaries and Assistant Secretaries, and each weekend, including holidays, among Directors. The OOD shall serve as the point person for the management and resolution of extraordinary circumstances and events concerning the Department for a particular day. He/she must ensure that all concerns are promptly reported to the Office of the Secretary (OSEC), through the Chief of Staff. The OOD must be available on-call twenty four (24) hours for this particular role. In case of emergencies such as fire, earthquake, or other related events, the OOD shall also act as the immediate liaison. He/she shall respond to keep peace and order and monitor the situation. Moreover, in the event of rallies, protests, and demonstrations, he/she shall serve as the focal person to establish dialogue with concerned parties as soon as reasonably possible, to develop a common understanding towards the resolution of any incident that may arise. AIDSTE Attached herewith is the schedule of rotation for the months of February and March 2017. It is the responsibility of the OOD to: (i) swap with another principal if he/she is unavailable to perform said duties on his/her assigned dates; and, (ii) inform the Chief of Staff of such change.
