May 2, 2006 CALOOCAN CITY ORDINANCE NO. 0400-06 (PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 1123) AN ORDINANCE IMPOSING A SUMMER FEE IN THE AMOUNT OF THREE HUNDRED SIXTY PESOS (P360.00) FOR 12 UNITS FOR SUMMER CLASSES IN THE UNIVERSITY OF CALOOCAN CITY INSTEAD OF SIX HUNDRED THIRTY PESOS (P630.00) REGULAR TUITION FEE RATE CURRENTLY IMPOSED FOR SUMMER CLASSES AS STATED IN THE REVISED CALOOCAN CITY REVENUE CODE FOR 12 UNITS AND BELOW WHEREAS , it is clearly noted that Title VI, Chapter 5 (City University Fees), Section 245 of the Revised Caloocan City Revenue Code 2004 have failed to indicate appropriate tuition fee for summer classes in the University of Caloocan City; WHEREAS , in the absence of pertinent provision in the imposition of tuition fees for summer classes, the rate imposed for the regular tuition fees per semester which is P630.00 for Caloocan residents and P2,500.00 for non-Caloocan residents for 21 units and below is the same fees being imposed for the allowable 12 units subject to be enrolled during summer classes; WHEREAS , the said amount is expensive for a 12 units subject considering as well that UCC is a state university and must offer affordable education to less fortunate students of the City of Caloocan; WHEREAS , there is an urgent need to clarify the tuition fee for summer classes so as to create distinction between the rate being imposed between regular classes and summer classes; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED AS IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Caloocan City, in session duly assembled, that: SECTION 1. Purpose and Scope . The rate of P360.00 for 12 units subject and below shall be imposed for summer classes so as to create distinction between the regular tuition fees and summer tuition fees and to unburden parents and working students in paying high tuition fees for their summer classes. SECTION 2. The imposition of appropriate fees for summer classes shall become the City University guidelines in collecting tuition fees for summer enrollees and shall be submitted for its immediate implementation. SECTION 3. Coverage . The rate for the summer classes shall only be imposed to all undergraduate students of the University of Caloocan City who are bonafide residents of the City and shall not cover summer cross-enrollees and non-residents of the City. SECTION 4. Repealing Clause . any ordinance, resolution, local Executive Order or issuance, which are inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed or amended accordingly. ATICcS SECTION 5. Effectivity Clause . This Ordinance shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its approval and publication in newspaper of local circulation. SECTION 6. Let copies of this Ordinance be furnished the University of Caloocan City, Office of the City Mayor and other concerned entities.
