November 21, 2013 BLGF MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 104-13 TO : All Central and Regional Directors of this Bureau and All Others Concerned SUBJECT : Graduate-Level Economics Offered under the Auspices of Joint Japan-IMF Scholarship Program for Asia (JISPA)/Academic Year 2014-2015/Japan For the information and guidance of all concerned, attached is a copy of the Memorandum dated November 5, 2013 of Director Lourdes Z. Santiago, Central Administration Office, Department of Finance and Head, PCDC Secretariat, regarding the invitation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), inviting this Bureau to nominate candidates to their graduate-level program. The Central and Regional Directors of this Bureau are hereby instructed to take note of the above Memorandum and disseminate the contents thereof to Bureau Staff and others concerned. Santiago Head, PCDC Secretariat SUBJECT : Graduate-Level Economics Offered under the Auspices of Joint Japan-IMF Scholarship Program for Asia (JISPA)/Academic Year 2014-2015/Japan This is to inform that this Department has been invited by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to nominate candidate/s to the above-mentioned graduate-level program. ISAaTH The partnership track of JISPA allows scholars to study in specially designed graduate level courses concentrating on macroeconomics at an IMF partnership university. The partnership universities are National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), Hitotsubashi University, International University of Japan (IUJ) and University of Tokyo (UT). The universities offer programs for JISPA scholars designed to equip scholars to engage in macroeconomic policy dialogue at the international level. All of the programs have a strong macroeconomic oriented focus, with core courses offered in macroeconomic and financial theory and policies. In addition, the programs offer optional subjects that will help scholars pursue their particular interest and research agenda. All programs contain a thesis or research paper component that will allow the student to develop policy research skills. The courses being offered by each university are the following: A. GRIPS GRIPS offers a one-year Macroeconomic Policy Program and a two-year Macroeconomic Program. Further information on the program can be found on the GRIPS website at http://www.grips.ac.jp. B. Hitotsubashi University Hitotsubashi University offers the two-year Asian Public Policy Program in the School of International and Public Policy, leading to the degree of Master of Policy (Public Economics). IUJ The IUJ offers the two-year Macroeconomic Policy Program (MPP). Further information on the program can be found on the IUJ's website at the http://gsir.iuj.ac.jp. D. The scholarships provides for admission and tuition fees; a monthly stipend (including a housing and subsistence allowance); medical/accident insurance; one round-trip economy class air-ticket; a lump-sum allowance to cover visa application costs and testing fees (such as TOEFL); and book-shipping costs. The scholarship covers expenses incurred by the scholar only.
