The Central and Regional Directors of this Bureau are hereby instructed to take note of the above and disseminate the contents to all Bureau Staff and encourage participation thereof. Carag Dear Secretary Purisima: Pursuant to the United Nations Resolution signed during the UN General Assembly on December 7, 1987 and by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 264, the Dangerous Drugs Board is once again spearheading the observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT) on June 26, 2013. This event will be observed simultaneously by all U.N. member countries. The theme of this year's observance "Global Action for Healthy Communities without Drugs" was circulated by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for adoption by all member countries. The goal of the campaign theme is to inform the public, particularly the youth, about the value of a healthy lifestyle and to create awareness on the harmful effects of drugs. In this connection, may we respectfully request your agency to undertake activities that are geared towards increasing public awareness on the deleterious effects of drug abuse and generating social response on the prevention and control of the drug problem. This is in support of our national anti-drug campaign with the ultimate goal of attaining a Drug-Free Philippines. Attached herewith for your consideration is a proposed Department Circular enjoining officials of various offices under your department to participate actively in the said event. Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 264 dated June 01, 1988, the 26th of June of every year has been declared as "International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking" (IDADAIT). This declaration is in support of the resolution passed by the UN General Assembly on December 7, 1987. As one of the departments represented in the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), we are called upon, and accordingly, are enjoined, to come up with appropriate activities to include the putting up of streamers in your areas on June 26, 2013, to commemorate the observance of IDADAIT.
