Santiago Head, PCDC Secretariat SUBJECT : Training Programme: Developing Government Policies to Promote SME Development/03 to 14 June 2013/Singapore This is to inform that this Department has been invited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to nominate a candidate to the above-mentioned programme. This programme aims to provide a framework for governments to develop policy solutions that engage the private sector to meet national SME development needs. The course also explores the efforts made by the government to promote SMEs' access to local markets through government procurement and business linkages with the private sector. It also discusses about how the Singapore private sector have supported government SME development strategies and programmes, including special initiatives targeting access to finance, provision of business development services and marketing support services. The course aims to share the Singapore public and private sectors' collective practical knowledge and lessons learnt in conceptualizing, delivering and managing value for money government programmes, projects and schemes for SMEs. Applicants should be: mid to senior level government officials who are involved with promoting SME development in their respective countries, proficient in spoken and written English and in good health. The following expenses will be borne by the Government of Singapore: daily training allowance of Forty Singapore Dollars (S$40.00) to cover meals and daily expenses, transportation to course venue and site visits, medical insurance for participants to cover accident and hospitalization during stay in Singapore, and accommodation for the entire duration of the course.
