Lourdes Z. Santiago, Director IV, Central Administration Office, Department of Finance regarding the abovementioned subject. The United Nations General Assembly has declared 2014 as the International Year of Family Farming (IYFF) to recognize the importance of family farming in reducing poverty and improving global food security. The Philippines through the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) will be hosting the event's global closing ceremony which will be attended by representatives of 36 member-countries on November 27, 2014 in Dusit Thani Manila, Makati City. This year's theme is "Ang Family Farming ay Buhay." In support to this undertaking and to increase awareness among families and individuals on the importance of farm families in eradicating hunger and poverty, providing food security and nutrition, and achieving sustainable development, particularly in the rural areas, may we seek your participation by way of printing and displaying tarpaulins in strategic places in your respective offices. Also, we request you to disseminate information about the 2014 IYFF celebration through your websites, newsletters, bulletin boards and other IEC materials.
