Infrastructure in a Market Economy helps senior decision makers address critical questions about public-private partnerships (PPPs) to provide infrastructure services. Taught by leading scholars and practitioners in regulation, privatization, and finance from across Harvard University, this program brings together senior-level officials from the public, private and nonprofit sectors to examine lessons learned and best practices from the public-private infrastructure development projects around the world. It offers an excellent opportunity for participants to engage in a dialogue with faculty and to share experiences with peers from other counties. This program is designed for senior public and private sector officials from both industrialized and newly industrialized countries involved in making decisions about investment in and management of basic infrastructure services, as well as regulators and those who design regulatory mechanisms. Admission to the program is competitive and is based on professional achievement and organizational responsibility. Though there is no formal education requirement, fluency in written and spoken English is a necessity for participation in the program. Financial assistance for training of this kind is often available from foundations, international development agencies, and multilateral assistance organizations. Individuals wishing for assistance should make inquiries directly to those organizations as soon as possible, as training funds are often limited and the approval process can be lengthy.
