For its 112th year, all government agencies are enjoined to be a part of the anniversary which celebrates the birth of the Philippine Civil Service. This year's theme is: Kawani, Ikaw Ay Isang Lingkod Bayani! The month-long anniversary celebration aims to promote, showcase and celebrate heroism in public service, and to highlight stories of triumph and sacrifice among the men and women in government. The activities stated below are to be undertaken at the national, regional and agency levels. All CSC Regional Offices are enjoined to conduct parallel activities in their respective areas. Events/Contests 1. R.A.C.E. to Serve II Fun Run September 8, 2012, 5:00 a.m. Quirino Grandstand, Luneta, Manila Coordinator: CSC National Capital Region (CSC-NCR) Contact Persons: Director Claudia A. From the success of last year's fun run, CSC is making this year's run bigger and better. The run is now open to all government employees and private individuals who are Filipino citizens. Honor Awards Program (HAP) Rites for the 2012 Presidential Lingkod Bayan, Dangal ng Bayan, and CSC Pagasa Awardees Malacaang Palace, September 2012 Coordinator: Honor Awards Secretariat (CSC Central Office) Contact information: 02-9317997 The awards rites serve as the culmination of the search for the Outstanding Public Officials and Employees. The awards, as provided by laws, are conferred by the President of the Republic of the Philippines. It is slated in September at the Malacaang Palace. Heads of government agencies, especially those with 2012 national winners, are expected to attend the rites. Government Choral Competition Finals: UP Theater, UP Diliman Campus, Quezon City, September 17, 2012, 3 p.m. Coordinator: CSC Regional Office No. 4 Contact person: Director Lydia A. Castillo (02-9271830, 02-9209987) As a follow-up to last year's choral competition, the CSC will once again be launching this contest for government employees. The contest aims to advocate Filipino culture and the arts. IEaCDH Each choral should have 20 to 30 members who are government employees and not under job orders and contracts of service. The grand prize is P100,000.00, while the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd runners-up will get P70,000.00, P50,000.00, P30,000.00. Four finalists will also get P15,000.00 each. Announcements on the registration deadline and regional finals will be made on the CSC Website and the official PCSA blog (www.celebratepcsa.wordpress.com). 4. Give It Your Best Shot! Nationwide Photography Contest for Government Employees Theme: Kawani, Ikaw Ay Isang Lingkod Bayani Deadline for submission of entries: July 19, 2012/5:00 p.m. Coordinator: Personnel Relations Office (CSC Central Office) Contact information: Mr. Medardo G. Jaudalso (02-931 8039, 02-931-4149, [emailprotected] The Contest is designed to promote the Lingkod Bayani concept among civil servants by capturing through photographs the essence of public service at its best in the Filipino's everyday life. The photography contest is open to all public servants/government employees regardless of appointment status except employees of the Civil Service Commission and all other government employees affiliated with the National Press Club (NPC) and Press Photographers of the Philippines (PPP). First, second, and third place winners will be rewarded with P20,000.00, P10,000.00, and P5,000.00 respectively. A consolation prize of P1,000.00 will also be given to the top ten finalists. The winning photos will be used for various publications and marketing collaterals of the CSC as well as exhibited in selected government galleries. As incentive to participants, all entries will have the chance to be featured, in the various materials of the CSC and other government agencies. 5. Essay Writing Contest Theme: Lingkod Bayani Working for Gender Responsive, Accessible, Courteous, and Effective Public Service Coordinator: Officer for Personnel Management and Development (CSC Central Office) Contact persons: Ms. Bernardita C. Mangosing (02-9320181, 02-9512639, 02-9512637, [emailprotected] Submission of entries: June 18 to August 3, 2012 HcaATE As a continuing contest, this year's version aims to foster a deeper understanding among civil servants on the existing and emerging challenges to public service as they work for a gender responsive, accessible, courteous and effective public service. The contest also aims to create value by reflecting on the realities of women and men in Philippine society, both for the contestants and the readers of the winning essays. To be eligible for the contest, participants should be government employees except those under job orders and contracts of service. CSC employees and their relatives within the 3rd degree of consanguinity or affinity are disqualified to participate. The top three winning entries has a corresponding cash prize of P30,000.00, P20,000.00, and P10,000.00 respectively. 6. Special Treats for Government Employees Coordinator: Office for Finance and Assets Management (CSC Central Office) Contact Information: 02-9317990 and 02-9318179 The CSC will be partnering once again with government agencies and private companies to provide special treats for government employees such as free rides on public transportation and discounts on department stores. Region-led/Agency-led Activities All CSC Regional and Field Offices as well as government agencies have the option to do their own version of the Fun Run. All nationwide contests will require the assistance of CSC ROs and FOs. Details and updates on each contest, such as mechanics, guidelines, and final dates and venues will be posted at the CSC website, www.csc.gov.ph and the official 2012 anniversary blog at www.pcsa2012.wordpress.com.
