January 2, 1996 BIR RULING [UN-007-96] Hon. Alex A. Agpoon Asst. Secretary for Administration and Finance Malacaang Palace M a n i l a S i r : A report has been received by this Office that remittance of taxes withheld during the month of April from government money payments to various creditors of the Office of the Press Secretary pursuant to R.A. 1051 and R.A. 7649 can not be made on time because OPS Disbursement Voucher (DV) No. 01-9505-0569 in the amount of P20,111.24, allegedly submitted for approval remains unacted upon. Similarly, OPS D. V. No. 01-9504-0470 in the amount of P41,221.67, representing March 1995 remittance of withheld taxes was allegedly disapproved by your Office. Since under existing regulations taxes withheld should be remitted within ten (10) days after the end of each month, and in order that surcharge, interest and penalty may not accrue, it is requested that you look into this matter. Your kind assistance for the timely remittance of such withholding taxes will be highly appreciated. cdtech Very truly yours, LIWAYWAY VINZONS-CHATO Commissioner of Internal Revenue
