Tax Exemption Under RA 2023

October 9, 1958 BIR RULING NO. 590-58 The Canlubang Producers Consumers Cooperative Store Canlubang, Manila Gentlemen : This is in connection with your request for tax exemption under the provisions of Republic Act 2023. The letter of the Cooperative Administration Office dated October 12, 1954, a photostatic copy of which was submitted by you to this Office states that you are a cooperative association registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission under Act 3425 on December 15, 1948. Associations registered under said Act 3425 are agricultural cooperative marketing associations, the administration of which was transferred to the ACCFA before the enactment of Republic Act No. 2023. Such associations are governed by the provisions of Act 3425 and not by those of Republic Act 2023. In view thereof, your request for tax exemption under Republic Act 2023 is hereby denied.
