Wiloci Building Manila Lions Road Arroceros, Manila Attention: Ms . Fides C . Cordero-Tan This refers to your letter dated August 31, 1993 stating that the U.P. Women Lawyer's Circle (WILOCI) is a non-stock, non-profit corporation duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission; that apart from sponsoring activities related to legal development, WILOCI is also engaged in charitable and socio-civic undertaking for the benefit of the indigents in our society; that on September 7, 1993 WILOCI is sponsoring the premiere showing of the film "The Firm" for the benefit of its legal aid clinic which will be devoted initially in prosecuting cases endorsed by the Department of Social Welfare involving abused women and children. cdta Based on the foregoing, you request for a ruling that the proceeds to be generated by WILOCI out of the aforesaid movie benefit show shall be exempt from income tax. In reply, please be informed that the activity of sponsoring the premiere showing of the film "The Firm" not being conducted for profit, the proceeds of which shall be used for the benefit of its legal aid clinic, shall not be subject to income and business taxes (Sec. 26, Tax Code, as amended).
