July 6, 1960 BIR RULING NO. 278-60 The Honorable Senator Ambrosio Padilla Senate of the Philippines M a n i l a S i r : In reply to your letter dated June 25, 1960, interceding in behalf of the Philippine Cigar & Cigarette Manufacturers Association for exemption from the payment of compensating tax on imported articles used in the manufacture of articles subject to the specific tax, I have the honor to inform you that it is now the position of this Office that such imported articles are exempt from payment of compensating tax. cdll Very truly yours, (SGD.)
