Reyes General Accountant Gentlemen : In reply to your letter dated May 10, I have the honor to inform you that a certificate of stock representing 200 shares with a stated value of P2,000,000.00 is subject to documentary stamp tax in the amount of P5,000.00 prescribed in section 212 of the National Internal Revenue Code. The documentary stamps with a total value of P5,000.00 should be affixed to the stub kept by the corporation, and in case the space is not sufficient for all the stamps, the documentary stamps should be affixed to a blank sheet of paper and attached to the stub of the certificate of stock.
