June 22, 1982 BIR RULING NO. 204-82 24-a 000-00 204-82 Rural Waterworks Development Corporation 865 E. de los Santos Avenue Corner Times St., Quezon City Attention: Mr . Angel A . Alejandrino Officer-in-Charge Gentlemen : This refers to your letter dated October 19, 1981 requesting a ruling to the effect that the Rural Waterworks Associations organized under Executive Order No. 577 are exempt from paying all internal revenue taxes. It is represented that under Section 29 of Executive Order No. 577, Rural Waterworks Associations (RWA'S) shall be vested with all the powers and functions provided for Cooperatives, non-profit and non-stock corporation under the Corporation Law and other related laws, rules and regulations and such other powers and functions as may be provided in their Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws as approved by the Rural Waterworks Development Corporation. In reply thereto, I have the honor to inform you that there being no express and clear provision of law specifically exempting the Rural Waterworks Associations from the payment of taxes, it is regretted that your request cannot be granted. aisadc Very truly yours, RUBEN B.
