February 27, 1961 BIR RULING NO. 151-61 Col. Tomas M. Lazaro 2041 Makiling St., Sampaloc Manila S i r : With reference to your letter dated February 15, 1961, I have the honor to inform you that inasmuch as your pension as a retired army officer is exempt from income tax, pursuant to Rep. Act No. 340 as amended by Rep. Act No. 2310, the same need not be returned for income taxation. However, if you derive income from any other source which is not exempt from tax, you must file an income tax return if the total amount of such income is P1,800.00 or over. prcd Very truly yours, (SGD.)
