March 24, 1961 BIR RULING NO. 083-61 The National Commander Confederation of Filipino Veterans 1202 General Luna Manila S i r : Reference is made to your letter dated March 23, 1961 requesting exemption from tax of used clothing and canned foods to be donated to your organization by the American-Filipino Grower's Association of California, U.S.A., and which you will distribute by way of relief to war veterans, widows and orphans and the public in general. In reply thereto, I have the honor to inform you that the articles to be donated to your organization for the purposes mentioned above are exempt from either the advance sales or compensating tax if and when they are landed in this country and removed from customs custody, pursuant to the provisions of Republic Act No. 1916.
