Rachilda Sion Treasurer, UP ICTUS This refers to your letter dated December 1, 1992 requesting exemption from tax of the proceeds of the advance screening of the film "Forever Young" on January 26, 1993 at 7:30 P.M. at the Shoe Mart Megamall Theater which you are sponsoring in order to generate the needed funds to support your scholars. It is represented that the In-Christ Thrust For University Students, Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit corporation with following purposes: to strive to become a Christian community , one wherein each member shall personally live his faith, share it with his fellow members, and give witness to it outside the organization, to strive to cultivate, as such the value of fellowship . It shall therefore promote a familial spirit among its members and shall create structures, undertake activities, and provide means for the realization of this ideal of friendship. It shall prize the personal care and welfare of its members. A corollary of this shall be a total ban of hazing and other acts which run counter to such fellowship, to strive to cultivate the value of service . This is an emulation of He whom the Father has sent to serve. The community shall recognize that service is love made tangible and shall therefore commit itself to the service of the "the least of my Brethren"; those most afflicted in life, those who are oftentimes victims of injustice of an awesome scope. Such service shall include the defense of justice. Corollary to this shall be a valiant identification and solidarity with those we have chosen to serve. Such identification would imply the essence of simplicity in our daily lives as we have to live simply so that others may simply live, to strive to cultivate the value of teaching . The organization believes in the ornament legacy of education and shall serve most in this practical venue. It shall speak the Word of God, and as such, shall engage in the active work of witnessing the Gospel. Imperative therefore shall be each member's intelligent understanding of the Catholic faith and his willingness to live by it as best as he can, to strive to cultivate the value of prayer . The community shall recognize that without God, it can do nothing. More importantly, the work of its members shall ideally flow from their deep relationship with Christ, the Alpha and the Omega of all that ICTUS is, and that discipleship shall be nourished through prayer; That it has been involved in teaching Catechism and supplementing the English, Science and Math programs of public school students of the Krus na Ligas and Balara Elementary School for the past 9 years; that through these, it has come to realize the great need of these students, specially the deserving ones for a better quality education in a good school, a need it has been worthy to fulfill by supporting particularly deserving students; that at present, it supports 14 scholars - 6 of which are in college, 7 in high school and 1 in grade school-by shouldering the tuition fees, exposure trips, cost for books, school uniforms, and other miscellaneous fees; and that in order to generate the needed funds, it is sponsoring an advance screening of the film "Forever Young" on January 26, 1993 at 7:30 P.M. at Shoe Mart Megamall Theater. cdtech In reply, please be informed that the proceeds to be derived by In-Christ Thrust for University Student (ICTUS) Foundation, Inc. in connection with the advance screening of the film, "Forever Young" on January 26, 1993 at 7:30 P.M. at the Shoe Mart Megamall Theater are not subject to income and business taxes.
