March 6, 1979 BIR RULING NO. 006-79 10% Compensating tax shipments of publications from abroad In reply to your letter dated January 17, 1979, I have the honor to inform you that the five shipments of publication coming from Australia which are presumably donations to the FEU Library are subject to 10% compensation tax on the total landed cost thereof in accordance with Section 204, in relation to Section 199, both of the Tax Code of 1977. cdtech It is suggested that your inquiry as to the imposition of customs duties be referred to the Bureau of Customs which has jurisdiction over said matters.
