December 3, 1998 BIR RULING [DA-545-98] Bantay Bata 163 ABS-CBN Foundation, Inc. Mo. Ignacia Avenue Quezon City Attention: Ms . Tina Monzon-Palma Project Director Gentlemen : This refers to your letter dated November 13, 1998 requesting for exemption from income tax and other related dues of the proceeds that you will derive from your project entitled " Pamaskong Binggo Para sa Bantay Bata 163 " which will be held on December 6, 1998. cdta It is represented that Bantay Bata 163 is a child intervention program that operates a 24 hour hotline to efficiently and immediately respond to crisis calls concerning child abuse in Metro Manila; that in just over a year of operation, Bantay Bata 163 was able to address rescue of more than 412 children from life and death situations; and that with this achievement, Bantay Bata 163 was awarded the United Nations Grand Award by the UN Department of Public Information last June and the first Presidential Citation given by His Excellency President Joseph Ejercito Estrada last September, 1998. In reply, please be informed that the proceeds that you will derive in connection with the holding of the said project are not subject to income tax and VAT. Such income, however, should be declared in the annual information return to be filed by you on or before April 15, 1999.
