July 2, 1998 BIR RULING [DA-295-98] Lufthansa German Airlines Legaspi Park View Condominium 134 Legaspi Street, Legaspi Village Makati City Attention: Mr. Michael Offergeld Finance & Administration Manager Gentlemen : This refers to your letter dated January 28, 1998 requesting permission to use imported cash receipts printed in Germany for your daily business transactions. It is represented that Lufthansa German Airlines is a foreign corporation duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) with office address at PAGS Building, NAIA Complex, Pasay City; that it is engaged in cargo transportation whose income tax liabilities are based on flown revenues and whose business tax liabilities are based on the summaries of the manifest; and that for the past two years, it has been using receipts printed in Germany. In reply, please be informed that since your request is not a violation of Revenue Regulations No. V-1 otherwise known as the "Bookkeeping Regulations", the same is hereby granted. Accordingly, you can use your Germany-printed receipts in your daily business transactions provided that the same are serially numbered and shall show, among others, the name, business style, Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) and business address of Luftanza German Airlines, pursuant to Section 238 of the Tax Code of 1997.
