August 29, 1997 BIR RULING [DA-294-97] Punongbayan & Araullo 6th Floor, Vernida IV Bldg. Alfaro St., Salcedo Village Makati City Attention: Atty. Vic C. Mamalateo Tax Partner Gentlemen: This refers to your letter dated May 13, 1997 requesting in behalf of your client, Associated Press, for an extension of thirty (30) days from May 15, 1997 or until June 15, 1997 within which to file the 1996 Philippine income tax return of Mr. David Thurber. It is represented that Mr. David Thurber is an expatriate; and that you cannot possibly file his 1996 Philippine income tax return due to the fact that he has not yet forwarded/submitted his compensation package and other pertinent documents to your office and because of the implementation of the new modes of payment. CTSDAI In reply, please be informed that in view of the above justifiable reason, you are hereby granted an extension of fifteen (15) days or until May 30, 1997 within which to file the 1996 income tax return of Mr. David Thurber pursuant to Section 46 of the Tax Code, as amended. Very truly yours, (SGD.) LIWAYWAY VINZONS-CHATO Commissioner of Internal Revenue
