Gentlemen : In connection with the proposed deficiency branch profit remittance tax assessment against American President Lines, Ltd. (APL) with office address at the 3rd Floor, ECJ Bldg., Real-Arzobispo Sts., Intramuros, Manila in the amount of P290,596,822.00 for the taxable year 1989, please be informed that after a thorough and exhaustive review of the facts of the case and since no other internal tax liability may be attributed to APL, this Office has cancelled the said proposed assessment for lack of legal basis.
