Ana, Manila S i r : In reply to your telegram dated February 19, 1974 to the President of the Philippines, I have the honor to inform you that your request for increase in the personal exemptions of income taxpayers deserves meritorious consideration. However, such increase will reduce the tax base and, consequently, will reduce substantially income tax collection. cdt In view thereof, this Office is not, inclined to recommend the increase in the personal exemption allowed to individual income taxpayers.
