September 4, 1973 Mr. Pascual Ovalles 1619 Council St. Los Angeles, California 90026 U. S. A. S i r : This refers to your letter to His Excellency, President Ferdinand E. Marcos dated August 12, 1973, requesting information as to the tax privileges you would enjoy for returning to the Philippines to spend the remaining years of your life in the country. cdt In reply, I have the honor to inform you that you fall under the category of persons coming to settle for the first time in the Philippines under Section 190(f) of the Tax Code, as amended by Presidential Decree No. 69. Under said section, you may bring to the Philippines tax-free, and without limitations as to value the following: 1. Professional instruments and implements; 2. Tools of trade, occupation and employment; 3. Wearing apparel; 4. Domestic animals; 5. Personal and household effects. However, vehicle, vessel, aircraft or merchandise of any kind, machinery or other articles for use in manufacture are not included within the purview of the above mentioned articles. aisadc Very truly yours, (SGD.)
