June 26, 1974 Mr. Roland Faciano SHEGT, USAF (RET.) 323 Harward Avenue Marisol Village Angeles City S i r : This refers to your letter dated January 10, 1973 to the Honorable, the Executive Secretary requesting a ruling as to whether military retirement pensions of United States veterans residing in the Philippines are subject to income tax. In reply thereto, I have the honor to inform you that beginning the taxable year 1973, i. e., January to December 1973, pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 220, said military retirement pensions are exempt from income tax, without any qualification as to whether the recipient is a Filipino or U.S. Veteran receiving benefits under Republic Act No. 360. casia Very truly yours, (SGD.)
