July 15, 1975 Mr. Romulo R. Sison AVP-for Finance, Adm. & Procurement Construction & Development Corporation of the Philippines Tierra Factors Bldg., 355 Buendia Ave. Makati, Rizal S i r : In reply to your letter dated May 29, 1975, I have the honor to inform you that preservation of microfilm copies of books of accounts does not satisfy the requirements of Section 337 of the Tax Code. Said Section implies that the records to be preserved by taxpayers for a period of five (5) years from the date last entry made therein must be originals thereof. This requirement is necessary for the reason that the originals of the books of accounts are the best evidence to prove entries made therein. aisa dc Very truly yours, (SGD.) MISAEL P. VERA Commissioner of Internal Revenue TAN 1601-593-5
