July 16, 1973 Yupangco-Yamaha Music Corporation 2320 Pasong Tamo Extension Kayamanan "C", Makati, Rizal Attention: Mr . Milo Rivas Office Manager Gentlemen : This refers to your letters dated July 5 and 10, 1973 requesting exemption from the payment of the amusement tax on the Philippine Yamaha Slectone Festival which will be held at the Meralco Theatre on July 21, 1973. It appears that the purpose of said festival is to arouse organ music consciousness among the public and promote culture; that a group of non-professional musicians will play on the Yamaha electronic organ classical, semi-classical and Filipino folk music; and, that the fees to be charged to those attending this organ performance will be sufficient only to cover its production costs. In reply thereto, I have the honor to inform you that, as represented, the said festival is a musical program, in which case, the same is exempt from amusement tax under Section 260 of the Tax Code, as amended. Very truly yours, (SGD.) MISAEL P. VERA Commissioner of Internal Revenue TAN-1601-593-5
