June 9, 1969 Mr. Gelasio N. Fedrequilan, Sr. San Carlos City Negros Occidental S i r : This refers to your letter dated February 21, 1969 requesting information as to whether or not the amount you received from the Government Service Insurance System as your retirement benefit for being a retired Chief of Police of San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, is subject to income tax. In reply, I have the honor to inform you that annuities and benefits granted by the Government Service Insurance System are exempt from all types of taxes pursuant to Section 14 and Section 28(c) of Commonwealth Act No. 186, as amended.
