October 23, 1969 Mr. Greg C. Cello 2432 Esmeralda San Andres Bukid, Manila S i r : This refers to your letter dated August 17, 1968, requesting information on query stated as follows: "G.S.I.S. pension payments to 65 year old retirees are freed by law from income tax. This being so, does it follow that their subsequent pension payments when they reach 70 years are likewise tax free? If not, kindly inform this writer why, all payments being retirements benefits." In reply thereto, I have the honor to inform you that pursuant to Section 25(c) of Commonwealth Act No. 186 as amended, all benefits granted by the Government Service Insurance System shall be exempt from all types of taxes.
