Diaz Gentlemen : This refers to your letter dated January 25, 1974 requesting confirmation of Authority to Release Imported Goods No. BT-74-1539, dated January 14, 1974 subjecting the importation of your client, Benson International, of 17 cases of hardware locks to the 7% advance sales tax. In reply, I have the honor to inform you that it being represented that the imported locks are of general application that is they are used in the manufacture of school bags and other bags and that they are to be sold as is, the same are subject to the 7% advance sales tax based on the landed cost thereof plus 25% mark-up pursuant to Section 183 (b) in relation to Section 186, both of the Tax Code. aisa dc Very truly yours, MISAEL P.
