February 14, 2006 BIR MEMORANDUM TO : All BIR Officials, Employees & Others Concerned SUBJECT : Selling of Cigarettes Inside the Premises of the Bureau To further implement RMO 8-2002 otherwise known as "No Smoking Rule" within the BIR Office Premises & Imposition of Sanctions for violation of the rule, we will strictly enforce Item No. 5 of the Policies and Guidelines, RMO 8-2002 ("No Smoking Rule" within the BIR office Premises and the Imposition of Sanctions for violation of the Rule) which states that: "In accordance with Item 4.4 of CSC MC No. 7-99, the sale and/or distribution of cigarettes, cigar or any other tobacco product shall be strictly prohibited within the Building within the National office compound, or within the premises of all other Bureau offices." Health marshals shall apprehend and report violators. For this purpose, penalties and sanctions for No Smoking Rule Violations shall likewise apply. In order to protect the health of the majority of the employees who are non-smokers, let us all maintain a smoke-free environment. For your information and guidance. (SGD.) NORMA L.
